Patients & Families Living with Your Guardian Low EXD Battery Warning

Low EXD Battery Warning

Low EXD Battery Warning

What Is a Low EXD Battery Warning?

The Low EXD Battery Warning warns you when the battery in your External Device (EXD) is low on power and needs to be replaced. Note that this condition has no affect of the operation of your implanted device (IMD). Your IMD will continue to operate normally and will still vibrate in your chest if it issues a See Doctor alert or Emergency alarm. It does mean however, that if the EXD battery is not replaced within a few days, the EXD will not be able to beep and flash as intended if your IMD issues an alarm or alert.

What Does a Low EXD Battery Warning Sound Like?

The Low EXD Battery Warning consists of a single chirp sound that repeats every 30 seconds until the battery is replaced. You can silence the warning temporarily for 12 hours by pressing the button on the EXD.

Move your mouse cursor over the animation to the right to see a Low EXD Battery Warning on the EXD.

Warning:
Your EXD uses a special battery that only your doctor can provide. The EXD will not work with a different battery. Using a different battery can also damage your EXD. An EXD that isn’t working properly cannot warn you when it should.

What To Do If You Receive a Low EXD Battery Warning

If you receive a Low EXD Battery Warning, you should:

Calling
  • Call your doctor's office and tell them your EXD is issuing a Low EXD Battery Warning and that your EXD battery needs to be replaced. You should get the battery replaced within a few days.
Turn-off Low EXD Battery Warning
  • Press the button on the EXD, if you want to temporarily silence the Low EXD Battery Warning for 12 hours. It will begin to chirp again after 12 hours as a reminder. You can continue to silence the Low EXD Battery Warning until you get the battery replaced.

    Note:
When silencing the Low EXD Battery Warning, you do not need to hold the EXD over your IMD when pressing the EXD button, as you do when silencing the Emergency Alarm or See Doctor alert.
