What is the AngelMed Guardian System

The inventors of the AngelMed Guardian System recognized that it's often difficult for people at risk to know when they really need to seek medical attention. So they designed a system that would notify you when a heart attack may be imminent.

The Guardian System includes a device that is implanted in a manner similar to that of a pacemaker. However, unlike a pacemaker, the device monitors your heart's electrical signal 24 hours a day, 7 days a week looking for changes that may indicate that your heart is not getting enough oxygen and that you might soon experience a heart attack. The system may potentially detect heart attacks that have no symptoms or have symptoms that are not typical.

When the implanted monitor detects a potential heart attack, it vibrates, alerting you that you need to take action. In addition to the vibration, it communicates with a pager-sized device that both beeps and flashes, letting you know that you need to either call your doctor or 911.

Once you get to the hospital, your doctor can retrieve information collected by your implanted device to a computer. This information can help him or her determine the best course of action in providing you treatment and care.
